In 2014 BMCA was awarded the Superintendence of the Bunda Street Shareway construction as part of a team with GTA Consultants to deliver an exciting and innovative new concept in functional urban streetscape. BMCA provided advice on constructability through the design phase and also conducted the tender evaluation.
The $2.2 million construction project aims to convert Bunda Street into a shared space where pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles negotiate priority in a slow speed environment. The concept seeks to provide improvements to safety for pedestrians and cyclists while maintaining vehicle access, and loading areas for local businesses.
The main construction works are well underway and expected to be completed by May 2015 with consolidation and defects liability periods thereafter.
